Western Y Extruder Disc
Western Y Extruder Disc
YEE-HAW! Add a little western branding to your soap or clay with this disc! The photo is of the Y from the 57” disc. This is akin to the brand for the tv show based by a large US national park.

This extruder disc works well in soap or jerky guns. I use this stainless steel jerky gun for extruding my soap dough. I am finding the trick is slow and steady, I seem to get better extrusions.
For best results use a dough that is malleable (not too sticky or hard). A soft, malleable soap dough will go through the extruder best (think clay or playdough consistency).

Note: I have found it best to put my soap batter (I use my normal soap recipe) in a zip lock baggie right away and flattening. Then letting it saponify for 24-48 hours.
-I first tried putting in a container that was too tall & deep and my recipe gel'ed thus giving me soap that wasn't good for extruding (too hard and had 'chunks' of partially gelled soap).

Care for you extruder discs
These discs are 3D printed from PLA, which is not plastic, but a thermoplastic polyester made from fermented plant starch using renewable resources. PLA is biodegradable & environmentally friendly. Read more about PLA here!
The extruders discs will not deal well with heat. Do not wash in a dishwasher. Use cool to lukewarm water to clean your discs and dry immediately. Avoid soaking in water for best longevity of your discs. Use a small brush to help clean nooks and crevices.
Try spraying your disc and extruder with 91-99% isopropyl alcohol to help prevent sticking.
